The Coin Spin

For last 25 year that I lived on this planet, I encompassed every source of knowledge and information I could. Not that I have become a wise man or a source of information but certainly I have become a mind with a thought to everything. Being a Libran, I tend to see the both sides of the balance before measuring up my decision. This peculiarity of mine made me look into both sides of the coin at the same time.

Of this I found, extremism and secularism a very interesting topic. Present day, half of the world is on the extremist brink and the other half is still confused on the term of Secularism.

It’s a very dangerous road on which we are trodding. The battle is on and commoners or liberals like us are walking in the no mans land. We are stuck in a war which is ours to say and yet not ours. Who started it, no one knows but knowing the human mind, everyone will blame the other for its inception.

Extremism cannot be charged on any one religion or sect as they say one mans rule is one mans compulsion.
Keeping hatred in mind, religions are fighting with each other till date. Muslim clerics fight with ‘jihad’, Hindu priests with ‘Danga-Phassad’ and Christian missionaries with ‘Monetary Prasad’. When will these orthodox teachers of faith understand that in a country like India no one religion can ever be dominant? Their attempts are going to destroy lives, what good is that God for whom they fight if he cant save innocent mortal lives? They are proving him false with their own action.

Everyone can be charged with Secularism. In one sense, secularism may assert the freedom of religion & each individual accepting other individual’s personal belief. It’s a start to a change where we can heal the wounds made upon each other. It’s not theirs or ours, its mine and yours. Its not for any one group but for one and all.It is Indian for every indian by all rights!

But the current political scenario is again committing the same mistake using secularism. If secularism does not mean equality of all then I don’t believe secularism is any different from Extremism. If you make provisions for one and deprive other of the same, you are going the wrong way. Secularism becomes a cloak used by political parties who don’t want to focus on progress but gain mileage by communal disharmony.

It’s like a spinning coin where both sides of the coin start looking same

Like everything in life we get a choice, we have to chose because at some time life is going to bring you to a point when both sides of the coin start to look the same.

The Grim’s whistle

The Grim…. our manifestation of being the true messengers of death or death itself. His presence is so deeply rooted in every living superstitious mind. His presence turns to fear; fear of the unknown and the unwanted……..the fear of death.
An incidence in my life got me closer to the existence of this heavenly or hell based gentleman.

The date was of April , on a relaxed Sunday. My Parents, my brother and me were having a small family tea chat when the phone rang……………

My father furiously dialing ambulance numbers, my kid brother with a scared looks on his face, my mom terrified and myself with a deep fear inside…. within minutes we were at my grandfathers place. He was showing every symptoms of a cardiac arrest.

Profusely sweating, shaking, too anxious, a slight pain in the chest and the terrible vomiting feeling. Even a layman who has seen heart patients knows what it concludes to be. Rubbing his hands and legs, wiping every inch of sweat-broken body, we waited helplessly for either the doctor or the ambulance to arrive.

Worst of fear was flowing through our minds like rivers on a rainy night. We waited, as the neighbors rushed in to help us but with the same fear in their minds.

Then it came like a call of badly wounded animal howling towards a gruesome end. The series of violent alternates of sound echoing through the row of houses in our hood. I was wondering are these paramedic vehicles always so eerie or are they just playing with my dented courage.

Late though, the ambulance had arrived. We rushed my grandfather through our lift, doctor checking the primary ECG-normal, eyes-normal, tongue-normal, any chest pain-not that severe, vommitting sensation-yes a bit………all check ups done, we were rushing to the hospital.

A few hours later, everything was fine; at age of 80 my grandfather had a real bad case of acidity and indigestion.

But what kept ringing in my head was the satanic sound of the ambulance siren, strangly it had invoked in me a much greater fear, as if something worse was coming. It was loud; it was maddening, it was as if the Grim was howling, singing, screeching with his deathly hollow voice which would only bring in death and fear.

That night as my grandpa recovered, I stayed back in the hospital and the grim troubled me with countless whistles that came in and went. He was on job (as he is everyday and night). At few places, he was not that lucky but at many he got what he came for.
Within that small hospital room I thanked god that my soul was intact and I was going to see the new sun; as if laughing over my feeble prayer, he whistled again and went off to a new search.

The Board Room

For every warrior, there is a grand battlefield. For every leader there is his motherland or father land for a few. For every traveler there is, his share of land mass to be discovered, for every scientist or inventor there is the new element or invention to be created and for every artist there is that one painting for which his brush awaits………..but what of the new individuals on the scene?? The corporate warriors! Where do they stand? Where do they make their mark??

Legends are not made by getting the TATA, Reliance, Wipro salary offers nor are they made being a Neti-techi-mechi-chemi engineer with an MBA or an MS. ever heard of a world famous marketing guy or a software engineer (Bill gates was never a soft ware guy…mind you)?? Well....no!
You wont find Derek’ O’Brian saying ‘name the five famous accountants in the corporate world?’ in Bornvita quiz masters .

So where do these guys get their immortality?? The answer is the board rooms!

Yes those sweet little conference rooms which smell of stale AC air, smoked cigarettes, coffee and the 150/- room freshener! Everyone waits for THE presentation when he or she has the rapt attention of every ear and eye in the board room. The day when they will deliver those dream figures and get the applause enough to last a lifetime, promising progress and mainly promotion!

The arena is set, the boss or the client is the, disgustingly the princess of final approval whom u have to please and be its savior. On one hand you have the acolytes of negation and on the other the angels of doubt, fending them with your true sword of statistical data and complete research shielded with the power of the MS PowerPoint, you battle on. The angels of doubt mount the first attack….they always do. You cut brilliantly with established proof. Their doubts clash against your strong based data and with the final sweep you finish off the doubts.

Look out! On the right! The volley of negations!! They have strongly mounted the attack with a NO but you are determined to show them NOW! They ask for credibility, you show them the end results.
No!…..
now!…
but then…
this is how…
you are wrong….
not this time….
but not with that….
that and also with this!

And lo! You shineth forth! The damsel of final approval smiles from north clearing all doubts, removing all no’s. She agrees, she is she impressed, she say yes (to your proposal) and you get your golden chance. What follows next or goes on is a different story but the day is yours!

People leave, you stay. Sitting on the chair, as the lights go dim, the AC shudders to a clumsy death and the clamor of people vanishes. You look around the room, you again congratulate yourself, you look around the room and weirdly or strangely somewhere in your mind, and you thank it. She has given what you seeked.

You are the hero; in that room you are now immortal.
